Its amazing what one week can do. This morning Julia was wide awake and responsive again. I had brought in a DVD video of Marika (about 1 hour) which we have been recording with the gang here to make sure that Julia didn't miss anything. We repeated the process tonight so we are almost caught up with all our video. It was the most fun we have had all week :)
Julia has had her breathing machine adjusted a few times today and is now down to 28% and the amount of assistance has been reduced. The respiratory therapist feels that if Julia continues to improve at this rate then the breathing tube could be removed tomorrow. The feeding tube was adjusted to from the small intestine to the stomach and she was feed pretty good today.
Just a quick comment that there was some confusion last week about what Julia had, Strep A or B. She really had Strep A. When I get a chance I will put out a new post explaining what I do know (which is limited) about what she really had. The blog some what reflects the confusion we had in the early days.
Lastly, what has also been missed in this is the fact that we are still proud parents and I can't resist posting a picture :)

Matt & Family,
I was reading this morning, and here's a passage that may be encouraging at this time of sleepless nights and draining days.
"Find rest, O my soul, in God alone;
my hope comes from him.
He alone is my rock and my salvation;
he is my fortress, I will not be shaken."
Psalm 62: 5,6
My everyone find rest and strength in God at this time.
Dear Matt, Julia and precious little Marika,
We rejoice with you for the continued progress made. We will all "breathe" easier when that breathing tube is pulled! (We also realize the timing needs to be right.) What a wonderful medical staff you have there..we were impressed! Above all, we thank and praise the Great Physician for carrying you through some very difficult days. Our love and prayers are constantly with you and I stand amazed at how many people know and care and are also praying. Thank you to all of you!! It means so much to all of us. Give Marika hugs and kisses from Grandpa and Grandma..we love you!

Thanks so much for posting the updates Matt - and also for that beautiful picture of Marika! We continue to pray for complete healing for Julia - and that very soon she can hold her little girl in her arms again! We're also praying that the breathing tube can come out today and that Julia can communicate more easily.

Oh wow Matt! She is beautiful. I can't wait to meet her. If you need someone to watch over her for a day, just give me a call. Even though you haven't heard or seen us around, we are keeping you, Julia and Marika in our prayers.
Melinda
We all are praying for Marika, Julia, and Matt, as they travel this. Here's Isaiah 42:16
"I will lead the blind by ways they have not known, along unfamiliar paths I will guide them; I will turn teh darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth. These are the things I will do for them; I will not forsake them."
Julia's Journey truly was fitting to this; We pray for Julia.
We All are praying for Marika, Julia and Matt. As we know they want Julia to be healed quickly. It sais in Psalm 102 verse 1: Hear My Prayer O Lord; let my cry for help come to you. We all want her to get better so lets keep praying.
Marika is adorable! She is growing big and strong. We give thanks to God for that
We have been a part of this journey and are so thrilled to see the upward progress. We CAN'T WAIT to be able to visit regularly and just talk to Julia. We miss her! Marika is gorgeous (Wearing a sleeper from our girls, no less!). We feel really bonded to her through this and look forwrd to seeing her grow. Sigh! God is good and hears our prayers when we cry to him. "Pray without ceasing" has a whole new meaning to me after coming through last week.
